His fitness journey wasn’t always straightforward. He faced setbacks, starting and stopping his fitness routines several times. However, a turning point arrived when he achieved financial stability, enabling him to invest in his health. 🚀
This is the time when he started prioritizing proper nutrition, supplements, and a dedicated training space, finally establishing a consistent and dedicated fitness regimen.
Meet Emir Škrijelj, our FitKit Hero the week! 👋
Hiking holds a special place in Emir’s heart, offering a perfect blend of physical activity and communion with nature. He always prioritizes quality over quantity.
This is how he describes his weekly routine:
“I try to train early in the morning before work, but I often train after work as well. Training days are Monday and Tuesday, I take a break on Wednesday, continue on Thursday and Friday, and then take another break over the weekend. One workout doesn’t last more than an hour along with the warm-up because I prefer intensity over volume.”

Emir’s training sessions are fueled by the heavy metal music that pumps through his headphones, providing the necessary motivation to push through demanding sets.
“I’ve always been skinny and only now, at the age of 37, am I experiencing my peak thanks to regular training.”
He attributes much of his success to compound exercises like squats:
“The most effective exercises for my type of training are those that combine multiple muscle groups, such as squats. That way I target multiple muscles at once instead of doing separate exercises and getting unnecessarily tired.” 💪
One humorous anecdote from his fitness journey involves a moment of post-workout daze.
“On one occasion, I was so dazed after a heavy set that I took the barbell from a guy in the gym without explanation. He started laughing because he noticed I was exhausted.” 😂
Emir’s approach to nutrition is balanced and practical.
“I try to make it as varied and balanced as possible. I avoid snacking at the bakery, eating fast food, and munching on snacks and sweets at home.”

Mike Mentzer and Nasser El Sonbaty serve as Emir’s fitness heroes, inspiring him with their intellectual approach to bodybuilding.
“Besides top results, they were pronounced intellectuals who looked at bodybuilding from a scientific rather than an instinctive aspect and talked about the importance of developing all aspects of personality besides the physical one.”
Laziness rarely hinders Emir’s training sessions. He emphasizes that when you focus on the quality of the exercise, there are always results, and the results are motivation in themselves. 🎯
“Set a goal and research how you can achieve it. The internet provides answers to all your questions because taking care of your body is a scientific discipline. Don’t set unrealistic goals because the body develops within its genetic potential, and you’re here to get the most out of it, and all the beauty is in that.”
When not training, Emir finds relaxation in the world of Italian comics, particularly the adventures of Dylan Dog and Napoleon.
“They give me a sense of passive engagement, providing a welcome respite from the demands of my active lifestyle.”

Emir’s experience with the FitKit app has been really positive. 👌
“The app has provided me with greater accessibility to gyms, streamlining my training logistics and allowing me to train conveniently wherever I may be. This flexibility has significantly enhanced my fitness journey, enabling me to integrate training into my busy schedule seamlessly”.
In 2024, Emir can say that he has successfully achieved all his fitness goals. This year, he aims to maintain consistency, refine his nutrition, and incorporate complementary practices like stretching and yoga to enhance his overall well-being.
A challenging long-distance hike along the Western Macedonian Transversal route is also on his horizon.
